Reflective Cycling Jackets & Running Gilets: UK Guide
A reflective cycling jacket and a high-vis running gilet solve different clothing needs. Sleeves add coverage; a gilet leaves your arms free. Fluorescent colour and reflective fabric also behave differently, so choose around the light, weather and activity you expect rather than the biggest discount.
This UK buying guide explains those choices, compares three current product examples and brings together four selected offers using HVC15, GILET25 and JACKET25. The examples come from one affiliate retailer. This is a guide based on published specifications, rather than a hands-on test or a ranking of every brand.

Choose around your usual ride or run
- Want a sleeveless layer? Compare a gilet over the top you already use. Check the arm openings, zip and space for your usual layers.
- Want coverage on your arms as well? Compare a reflective jacket, checking sleeve reach and freedom to move in your riding or running position.
- Go out in daylight as well as after dark? Consider fluorescent colour alongside reflective sections. The colour name and the reflective feature are separate details.
- Expect rain? Check the actual waterproof specification. All three linked examples below are described as visibility layers, and their pages say they are not waterproof.

Reflective cycling jacket vs running gilet
| Check | Jacket | Gilet |
|---|---|---|
| Coverage | Includes sleeves. Check cuff and shoulder movement. | Leaves the arms uncovered; check what you will wear beneath it. |
| Layering | Allow room through the chest and upper arms for your usual top. | Check the arm openings and waist over the layers you expect to use. |
| Activity | Assess comfort in the actual riding or running position. | Useful to compare when you want a sleeveless outer layer. |
| Rain | Check a specific waterproof claim and construction. | A sleeveless design cannot cover the arms; check the material separately. |
Start with how you already dress for the journey. A gilet may be the more convenient addition if your existing top gives you enough arm coverage. A jacket may suit you when you want sleeves on the outer layer. Either choice still needs to fit well enough that you can move freely and use pockets without stretching the garment awkwardly.
Fluorescent colour and reflective fabric: check both
The Highway Code’s clothing guidance distinguishes light or fluorescent clothing for daylight and poor light from reflective clothing and accessories for the dark. That distinction is more useful than treating every silver, yellow or pink garment as the same type of visibility clothing.
For the gilet below, the retailer distinguishes yellow and pink as its hi-vis colour options; it describes blue as reflective rather than a daytime hi-vis colour. For the silver jackets, check the reflective coverage and the conditions in which you expect to use them. Product photographs use different lighting and are not a standardised comparison of performance.
For cycling after dark, clothing is part of your setup. The Highway Code specifies lit front and rear cycle lights at night and required reflectors. Reflective clothing does not replace those requirements. Read the Great Britain guidance or the Northern Ireland guidance for your location.
Three product examples, with original retailer photos
Check your size before choosing on price. The snapshot below was taken on 27 October 2026; product prices and available combinations can change. The photographs are from the matching product galleries.
1. A standard-fit silver reflective cycling jacket

The linked jacket is currently described as a unisex fit in L and XL. Its listed features include a mesh lining, rear ventilation, three external zipped pockets and an internal mesh pocket. The page explicitly says it is not waterproof.
Size and price matter here: XL was listed at £34.99, while L was £44.99. Both were shown available at the check. Measure for fit first; choosing a cheaper size that does not work for you is poor value.
Offer: the supplied men’s / standard-fit jacket promotion uses JACKET25 for 25% off selected qualifying items, until further notice.

2. A women’s silver reflective running and cycling jacket

This version has a shaped women’s fit, mesh lining, rear ventilation and zipped side pockets. Its page also says it is not waterproof. The size chart lists UK 8, 10 and 12, but a size chart does not establish current stock.
At the check: UK 8 was shown available at £34.99; UK 10 and 12 were shown unavailable. Check the live selector before ordering.
Offer: JACKET25 gives the supplied 25% promotion on selected qualifying items, until further notice.

3. A women’s high-vis reflective running gilet

The sleeveless gilet combines coloured fabric with reflective sections. Its published features include a mesh lining, rear ventilation, elasticated openings and two zipped pockets. It is described as a visibility layer, rather than waterproof clothing.
The listed price was £19.99. Colour and size choice differ: the page’s stock information showed yellow and pink in UK 8, and blue in UK 8 and 10. Check the current combination you need.
Offer: use GILET25 for the supplied 25% selected-item promotion, listed to end on 31 December 2026.

What could the voucher save?
These are conditional calculations, not confirmed checkout prices. The examples apply a 25% reduction to the displayed item price, assuming the chosen variant is eligible and the retailer accepts the code against that price. We have not tested that redemption. The retailer’s basket determines the actual total.
| Example item | Listed price | If 25% accepted |
|---|---|---|
| Standard-fit jacket, XL | £34.99 | £26.24 |
| Standard-fit jacket, L | £44.99 | £33.74 |
| Women’s jacket, UK 8 | £34.99 | £26.24 |
| Women’s gilet, eligible variant | £19.99 | £14.99 |
For a separate arithmetic example, 15% off a qualifying £40 item would reduce it to £34. That illustration explains HVC15; it is not a live product quote. Compare one applicable code at a time and check whether sale-price exclusions or other restrictions affect your selection.

The supplied offer is 15% off selected high-vis jackets and gilets, ending 31 December 2026. Check the product-specific 25% codes first when you are buying one of the linked examples.
Fit checks that matter more than the discount
Use the size guide for the exact product. Labels such as medium, large or UK 10 are not interchangeable measurements, and a women’s shaped cut can sit differently from a standard fit.
- Measure over the layers you will use. Check how the retailer defines chest, waist and hip measurements. Compare them with a garment that fits you well if you are unsure.
- Check the riding position. Reach forward as you would towards handlebars, checking the shoulders, back and cuffs. For running, move your arms through a normal stride.
- Check the pockets with your essentials. Think about the phone, keys or gloves you actually carry and whether they affect how the garment sits.
- Read the returns terms before an outdoor trial. Keep tags, packaging and proof of purchase while you assess the fit indoors.
Plan for rain and colder conditions separately
The three examples here should be assessed as visibility clothing. Their product pages do not describe them as waterproof rain shells. If keeping dry is your main requirement, start by checking the garment’s stated weather protection and construction before considering the voucher.
Think about the complete outfit. A layer worn over reflective fabric may cover it, so check which reflective areas remain exposed when you add rainwear, a backpack or another outer layer. Likewise, sleeves alone do not establish insulation: choose the base and mid layers around your own comfort and conditions.
Follow the care label on the garment you buy. Avoid applying a generic washing or treatment routine just because another cycling jacket uses it; different fabrics and finishes can need different care.
How to use the voucher codes
- Choose the matching offer above: HVC15 for selected clearance, GILET25 for the linked women’s gilet, or JACKET25 for the linked jackets.
- Open the offer’s shopping button and select the colour and size you need.
- Add the item to your basket and enter the code exactly as shown at the retailer’s checkout.
- Check that the discount appears against the intended item and review delivery or other charges.
- Complete payment only when the final total and product selection match what you want.
If a code is rejected, check its dates, spelling and item eligibility. An offer that worked for another size, colour or earlier basket is not proof it will apply to yours. You can compare the other supplied offer where its terms fit, but do not assume it will combine with an existing promotion.
UK delivery and returns
At the check, the retailer’s delivery page advertised free UK delivery with no minimum spend. It stated dispatch within one working day and arrival usually two to four working days after dispatch, allowing up to five. Paid delivery upgrades may change the total; check the checkout options for your address.
The returns policy advertised free returns within 30 days of purchase. It asks for resaleable condition, with tags and packaging where possible, and says a refund may be reduced for handling beyond what is needed to check the item. Read the current policy before ordering.

Choose the fit and features first, then apply the relevant selected-item code. HVC15 and GILET25 have a supplied end date of 31 December 2026; the two JACKET25 offers have no fixed end date supplied.
Frequently asked questions
Is a reflective cycling jacket also waterproof?
Reflective describes a visibility feature. Waterproof describes weather protection. Check them separately. The three product pages linked in this guide explicitly say their garments are not waterproof.
Should I choose a jacket or a gilet for running?
Choose around the coverage and outfit you need. A gilet leaves your arms uncovered; a jacket adds sleeves. Compare the fit with your usual layers and check the weather specification rather than choosing only on the discount.
Can I use GILET25 on a jacket?
The supplied offer assigns GILET25 to the linked women’s gilet. JACKET25 is the supplied code for the two linked jacket offers. HVC15 applies to selected high-vis jackets and gilets in the linked collection. Confirm acceptance at checkout.
When do the codes expire?
The supplied HVC15 and GILET25 offers end on 31 December 2026. Both JACKET25 offers are listed as “until further notice”, so no fixed expiry date has been supplied. Any code still needs to be accepted for your selected item when you order.
Are the prices after discount guaranteed?
No. The table shows arithmetic examples assuming a 25% code is accepted against the displayed price. Stock, variant prices and voucher eligibility can change. Check the retailer’s final payable total before buying.
